ArcGIS Field Maps Offline Functionality

Hi,

I was wondering if I have a map downloaded for offline use, would this map still be accessible if the enterprise portal server went down for example. At my company we are in the process of upgrading our enterprise and the servers that host the deployment. Due to this we have experienced some downtime due to the server being off and the process of switching. This made me curious about the functionality of the offline maps. Since they are stored locally on the device I assumed that even if the portal was down for some reason, employees still be able to access the offline maps.

Thanks!

If users have taken the map offline, it will be accessible if connection to the portal is lost.

They will not be able to take the map offline while the portal is inaccessible i.e. can't download content from a server that isn't running.

If you make changes to the 'online map' it may cause sync issues. If you're planning on doing anything to specifically alter the map while they are offline, or you're undergoing major server maintenance e.g. a huge enterprise upgrade of some kind, I'd lean towards checking in all offline maps and not doing any critical offline data collection during the maintenance. Read only offline doesn't matter, just re-download after upgrade.

I guess also just consider sign in and licensing in addition to taking the map offline, if users get logged out of their license.
