I'm trying to install the ArcGIS Explorer SDK for .Net on a Windows 7 x64 machine with 4Gb of RAM and currently 14.2Gb of free diskspace.  .NET frameworks 1.0 to 4.0 are installed as well as Visual Studio 2008 Professional (c# only) SP1 and Visual Studio 2010.  I do realize that this SDK is for VS2008 only.

The error message is as follows and in order in the event log:

  1. Product: ArcGIS Explorer SDK for the Microsoft .NET Framework -- ArcGIS Explorer SDK for the Microsoft .NET Framework requires a supported edition of Microsoft Visual Studio  2008 Service Pack 1 to proceed. Supported editions are Standard, Professional, Visual Basic Express, and Visual C# Express.

  2. Product: ArcGIS Explorer SDK for the Microsoft .NET Framework -- Installation operation failed.

  3. Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: ArcGIS Explorer SDK for the Microsoft .NET Framework. Product Version: 10.0.1200. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc.. Installation success or error status: 1603.

The SDK I'm trying to install is at the following location: http://gisupdates.esri.com/ArcGISExplorer/Build1200/ArcGISExplorerSDKDownload.exe

The Installation instructions indicate that Win7 x64 is a support platform and I am an local admin in the machine having the issue: http://resources.esri.com/help/1200/install_guides/ArcGISExplorerSDKInstallGuide.htm

Any help would be appreciated,
Eric

Eric,

I'll cast around here for possible reasons why your install is failing. In the mean time - version 1500 of ArcGIS Explorer and the SDK is just about to be released so I suggest (unless you need to stick to 1200) you don't spend too much time investigating this problem and try the 1500 SDK install when it's available - there'll be a blog post to let everyone know.

Regards

Mike
