ArcGIS Explorer Desktop crashing on launch

Hello all,

I just installed ArcGIS Explorer Desktop and on first launch, it crashes immediately and asks to send an error report. No error code provided.

I have uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled but that did not resolve the issue.

The install passed the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 check.

I am running Windows XP SP3 on an HP e8000.

Has anyone experienced this before?

do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card? What is the graphics card that you are currently using?

I had this problem about two months ago though only when I switched to 3D -- 2D worked semi-OK. If it was set to 3D when starting, it would crash. It was an automatic graphics chip update. When I did a system restore to before the suspected update (and I had to do several to isolate) I got to the point where AGX worked, then blocked that update (which I've now forgotten). A major pain, but figured it out for me, anyway. Your mileage may vary.
