Dear Tech Support,
I just installed ArcGIS Explorer Desktop version 2500 onto my VMware virtual machine running Windows 8 fully patched. The VM is running on Workstation 9 installed on a Windows 7 physical machine that is also fully patched.
I also first installed the required .Net component using the download link.
When starting the application I get "ArcGIS Connection has stopped working". Clicking either "Check online for a solution" or "Close the program" brings up the same dialog box repeatedly.
I have to kill the program with Task Manager.
Also Secunia is now reporting that C:\Program Files (x86)\Explorer (x86)\bin\python27.dll needs to be updated. The ESRI installer didn't register a separate install of Python, so installing the latest version of Python does not fix the issue reported by Secunia.
