adding data

Gota question,

I have a map of 195 precincts in a county.  I want to add to the attribute table a spread sheet with 1 value per precinct.  Is this a join?  How can I get it to add to the attribute table?  I tried the join data but the "ok" is never able to be clicked.  Advise?

Edwin,

to be able to join one thing to the other they both need to have a field with a unique identifier, which the joint will be based on. Do you have such a field on both attribute tables?

So the first column in the table is the FID....numbers 0 - 194.  I should have that on the spreadsheet I attach?

Correct, as long as those are unique numbers.
