Time Slider 'Intervals' Limitations

We are working with a time-enabled point data set where several points are recorded on a given day, but then nothing for a week or more at a time.  Our users want to be able to filter based on the 'given day', then also step through the points in intervals '1 hour'.

This works perfectly if we configure the start and end date to be within about a year of each other (and that's still pretty impressive: 365 x 24 'intervals' that we can step through!)

However, if we set the start and end two years apart, or more, the interval fails, and we get a default interval of ~2 months.

What is the limitation we're encountering, and how can we work around it?  (We may experiment with the Javascript SDK, but it would be nice if MapViewer/ExB could handle this workflow...)

Documentation from the Javascript SDK answered the question, I think:

the limitation is 10,000 stops?  (Reasonable, just good to know for datetime series that may span years...)
