Table Widget view sort not working

Ok, so I add a new sheet to my table, select the data sort and then try to edit the default view settings to apply a custom filter and a sort. The filter works fine but the sort does not get applied to the table. Likewise any changes I make to the Records to try limit the number of records shown etc. do not get applied either.

Is there something else I need to do? I've the same problem with Experience Builder in AGOL and the developer addition. I've tried different feature layers etc. and the same problem.
