Legend Widget in experience builder

I am trying to create an experience in experience builder, where the legend updates if there is a  selection made in the map. Online tips state there is an option "respect layer filtering" but that option isn't available or is not showing in my options. What can i do?

Looking at the documentation. The Respect Layer Filtering option appears in the 11.5 and 12.0 Enterprise versions, but not in ArcGIS Online which is the latest version. This suggests to me that ESRI removed that option because it wasn't working correctly.
