Filter Widgets - One Filter at a Time?

My map: https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/6937998752b148658765fcdc72ff0ccb

I have a map of comprehensive recycling categories and locations and I'm receiving feedback that the map gets too cluttered.

Is there a way to configure the filter widget to allow only one to be active at a time? SQL? Or do I need to backtrack and redo this with the map layers widget?

Thanks!

That is a frequent question and complaint here. I don't believe it has been addressed yet.

Here is the idea, you can see all the discussion there and give it a thumbs up.

My workaround you can see in the comments is to use a Group Layer in Map Viewer. There you can set to only one at a time, but it has its own separate issue that also hasn't been addressed yet. It defaults to closed, so you need to get the user to open the group layer.

Hope this helps.

For what its worth, I think your map is fine allowing more than one filter. If people are looking for different recycling categories they would have to do less clicking looking at them all at once. Turn on 3 I'm interested in and then click on them to see details.. Or Maybe you can use a couple of group layers or filters, batteries has 3 filters for instance. Groups might make it look smaller.
