Has anyone experienced issues downloading apps from ExB Developer Edition 1.13? If so, have you been able to resolve the issue?
There are quite a few posts of this nature relating to older versions of ExB Dev Ed. but I can't find an resolutions for my case. I'm running ExB Dev Ed. 1.13 on Windows 10 with with Node.JS 20.9.0. I'm aware that ESRI recommends Node.js 16 with this release of ExB Dev Ed. but they do claim to support version 20.
I'm connected to and have imported an app from AGOL and it is Published in ExB Dev Ed. Download from both the dropdown option inside builder as well as download from experience board for a selected experience fail. I get 1 of 2 errors (Screenshots attached), either time out or not found responses with no discernable pattern offering clues as to when and which error I'll receive.
Community thoughts and suggestions are much appreciated.
Hi James_Kellough, I few questions since I had the same problem and I was able to solve it:
Where in the local drive did you install ExB?
Which Antivirus software are you running on your machine?
Hope this helps
Hello, ExB is on the Local Drive (Desktop) as suggested by Esri in the install guide. My organization uses Micro Trend security and antivirus. Download to or from this location is whitelisted and is not an issue for other software products. Can you confirm you experienced issues with the same OS and versions of ExB and Node.js? If so, it appears our issues are unrelated.
We use Windows 10 Pro, Node version 16.20, ExB version 1.13. The solution was to create an exception in the Antivirus software for the folder where ExB is installed, this was done by our IT department for all the users of ExB, since we all had the same problem.
I'll check with my IT and update the solution as required. ESRI deployment documentation says "A ZIP file is created and downloaded to your local drive. It is located in the download directory defined for your browser." In Chrome, this location is C:\Users\[username]\Downloads by default and we have no access restrictions on that location for any other software so it should not be a IT policy issue or setting.
I may end up doing a complete reinstall using Node.js 16 since I still haven't found anyone with this issue running Node.js 20. Thanks for the suggestions.
Hello I have the same problem. I have EXD version 1.13 and I have tested several versions of Node 16 18 20 but I cannot download the Zipfile. I hope that an ESRI technical manager can answer me, I cannot contact ESRI support, it is urgent.
I am experiencing the same issue with 1.13. Dev Ed. I have tried other browsers, cleared/reset my cache, updated to latest/recommended Node JS version, and reinstalled files to local root drive. I was however, able to download my project using 1.12 Dev Ed. I am using Windows 11.
IMO, it seems with every new version of Dev Ed that is released (which is quarterly) there are some sort of issues with downloading.
Has this issue been reported to Esri as a possible bug for them to fix?
Yes I have the same problem in 1.13 and now 1.14. Only 1.12 does not give the download failed error. I am contacting support as I need the new features of 1.14 and previous solutions mentioned here are not an option.
If you have an Enterprise account I suggest copying everything over there and pointing Dev Ed to that account. Seems to work flawlessly. But if you don't have an Enterprise account or built your app exclusively in ExB Dev Ed. I hope support is able to help you. Please post their solution if they provide one.
I still have no solution to why downloads in ExB Dev Ed connected to an AGOL account fails but I ultimately switched my connection to my Enterprise account and now it works fine.
I was fortunate that I had created my Experience and all its web maps in AGOL first and I only imported the Experience into ExB Dev Ed after the fact to test and take advantage of some 3rd party custom widgets and to host on an internal web server. Had my entire app been built exclusively in ExB Dev Ed., this would have been a huge problem and I would have had to start from scratch.
Ultimately, I copied my Experience app and all its web maps from AGOL to Portal than I did a clean install of the latest ExB Dev Ed release 1.14 and pointed to my Enterprise account. I imported the Experience app from Portal into ExB Dev Ed and had to relink all my web maps and hundreds of widgets and dynamic content but in the end the download functionality worked without issue after connecting to an Enterprise account.
I know this isn't the solution many will want to hear, especially AGOL only users, which is why ESRI really needs to put more effort into figuring out this longstanding issue.
