It would be great if users could have the ability to save a bookmark to their desktop. We have an organization wide experience that users can create a bookmark with, but once their cache is cleared the bookmarks disappear. Having the ability to save your bookmark to your desktop then being able to load that saved bookmark would be extremely helpful.
I believe there was a custom widget that did this for WAB.
You could try enable Map's URL parameters.
After that you zoom and pan to the place of interest.
You'll see that the page's URL changes.
Add this URL to browser's bookmark, and then drag that bookmark to your desktop.
Even you can send this shortcut to anyone, and they can also open with the same state.
Done!
In our case being able to create one bookmark doesn't solve the issue. We also used an export bookmarks function in WAB. Our users would add a selection of multiple bookmarks, save them out and send them to another user who could import them to their own web app and review them. Also lists of bookmarks could be generated based on discussions or reports and imported during a meeting or sent out to a group of users for review. This was very useful functionality as it allows those with no GIS software or skills to add, save and share locations. I'm still looking into whether I can workaround using other widgets to replicate the same behaviour or add this functionality using my limited coding skills but it is a steep learning curve!
