Increase visibility of map loading indicator

I love that a loading indicator was added in this latest update, but I don't think it's visible enough.

Even just reducing this screenshot to the map portion of my app (which also has a header and a side panel), it's a bit hard to notice the indicator (bottom right). I think I understand why it's in the location it's in--to not conflict with other stuff people might have going on around their map, like sidebar expand/collapse buttons, or widget controllers. I do appreciate that consideration.

I don't know if the suggestion here is "make it darker" or "put a highlight underneath it" or "make it bigger."  Maybe something else, I don't know. It's a good function to have, but I don't think it's succeeding as-is.

I agree. This is a good idea, poorly executed. Here is how I would change it:

  • Move to bottom left.
    • There is already the unmovable scale bar there, so this corner can be the unmovable corner.
    • More prominent position for people with a native left-to-right reading order.
  • Bigger.
  • Add a background so it is visible regardless of what is on the map.
  • Make it trigger when the map starts to move, not when it stops moving.
