The use of the Select tool in tandem with the custom web tool (Analysis widget) is clunky and limited when working with map features. This negatively impacts the user experience and the use of gp tools. We use Select to choose features on the map as inputs to a gp service, and the user is required to navigate 3 different dialog boxes and use a total of 8 clicks just to add desired features as an input.
Sometimes for no reason the tool inputs get messed up and the user needs to repeat this multiple times - so 16 or 24 clicks to get the feature set defined on the tool properly! For users this is painful.
If the custom web tool interface could enable selecting features directly on the map without the Select Tool, it would save a lot of hassle (to be precise: select them and not draw a polygon over features). This was available in Web App Builder
