Allow EB users to create custom query statements just like in the Filter widget in WAB

Hi,

I wish there will be an option to allow users to create their own query statements (as many as they like) and not just pre-defined queries we set for them. And unique values must get filtered by the previous statement.

This is already implemented in the Filter widget in WAB but it's not smart enough to filter the unique values on the second query ("contingent values").

Say

1st filter. Category is Food
2nd filter. Subcategory is Restaurant, Coffee Shops, Tea Shop etc. and should no longer show me subcategory values which belong to Transport or Health or Business Category etc.

I hope I am making sense.

Definitely noticing some pain points from not having this ability. We have to skill someone up in Map Viewer as soon as they have any interest in filtering data for themselves and that's a huge step when custom filters already exist in WAB and worked really well.

We would like to see a Custom Filter option in Experience Builder too!

The current option to predefine filters only is not sufficient. I am still creating WebAppBuilder apps for people who want to be able to define their own filters on layers in the map.

I would like to second this request, this is a real issue on a project I'm working on: users would like to create their own filters within Experience Builder but this is not currently possible as far as I can tell.

I would like to see this feature implemented in ExB.

Yes! Please, we need this feature in EB! It really limits the user if they have to rely on custom queries built by the developer. There can be so many variations.

@DerekLaw are there any plans to implement this? Having user-defined queries/filters is a must and it is a bit shocking to see that Esri hasn't implemented this, especially since it was available in WAB like a decade ago.

Hi @AValenski,

I don't work on the Experience Builder product, so I'm unable to respond to your question. Sorry. I will defer to someone on the Experience Builder team to comment.

It would be really helpful to let users built their own query in Experience Builder. There are many variations possible and for the interface it's not a good idea to predefine them all for the user. Please implement this feature in the filter widget Esri.

My first attempt to work with the query and filter widgets was to implement a way for the user to build their own SQL. The app I'm building has many layers that have different ways to search so it's not reasonable to build out every combination of SQL statements. Using the Search widget is not reasonable because the users need to specify more complex logic with AND/OR operators. Please consider adding this functionality in Experience Builder.

It's a very needed feature indeed. Prebuilding everything does not make sense. Please Add this functionality.
