It would be helpful for end users to be able to change the symbology of data they add through the "Add Data" widget. Especially because the Print widget is available, without having that customization option makes it more difficult for users to be self sufficient using the app.
If possible, allowing them to change symbology of the layers themselves (especially when there are a lot) can also be very helpful.
Totally agree! Even just being able to change the symbology as the person creating the app would be amazing. At the moment the default is too close to some of our other symbology with zero option to change it.
This would greatly benefit our organization as well. We are planning a merge from VertiGIS software and our users are used to being able to change the symbology of their added data. It is unfortunate that they wouldn't be able to do this anymore when we switch our apps over to Experience Builder.
I am also highly interested in this functionality and posted in the related & more recent post on this topic here:
+1 to this idea. The Add Data widget is a great idea and powerful. The next logical step is to allow users to not symbolize it as bright orange fill. Would love that feature here and use it.
This ability has been supported in the June 2025 AGOL release, with a new option in the Map Layers widget, [Change symbols for layers generated at runtime]:
See the details of supported layer types here:
Note that if the original layer has symbols with variance, such as clustering as shown above, changing the symbol would remove those customizations.
