We wanted to put an idea for the UI/UX for the Add data widget in AGOL Experience Builder. Here’s some context:

Experience builder apps are regularly used and one of the more frequently used widgets is the add data widget for organisations we deal with.

The current UI for add data is this (public app example):

Some feedback is the original add data widget panel (right side) is unusable once the user hits the ‘click to add data’. The amount of screen real estate to search for data isn’t very large or user friendly as it is a very narrow area within the application.

Our thoughts are that Instant App and Hub (catalog) apps are great for users to add and search for layers.

Could this functionality somehow make its way to experience builder? The user interface is sharp and clearly takes over the screen allowing the user the ability to search for data by categories or the description of each dataset with a large enough thumbnail. We would want the ability to search by keyword, category, source and date modified (similar to ArcGIS Hub). If possible, also consolidating both add data panels into one would be great.
