Unable to validate Spatiotemporal data store due to Unauthorized error

Hi all,

We're running ArcGIS Enterprise 12.0 in a single-machine deployment and have configured a new spatiotemporal data store. However, it fails to validate, with the following error in the ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory.

Server machine returned an error. 'HTTP GET request '/_cluster/health?level=indices' failed.
Code 401.
Error:Unauthorized'

The describedatastore utility returns the following:

Information for spatiotemporal big data store bds_1gszykjy
==================================================

Error encountered: HTTP GET request '/_nodes' failed.
Code 401.
Error:Unauthorized

We'd appreciate any help in resolving this error.

Kind regards,

Stephen

Hi @HenryLindemann,

Do you have any ideas on what might be causing the above error in the validation of the Spatiotemporal data store. We'd appreciate any input that helps in resolving this issue.

Kind regards,

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

I have encountered a similar issue twice before, both times during upgrades to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5.

In one case, the issue was resolved by rebooting the machine or restarting the ArcGIS Spatiotemporal Big Data Store service.

In the other case, I had kept a backup of the security/certificate-related files from before the upgrade. After the upgrade, I copied the old files back to replace the newly generated ones, and the spatiotemporal data store was able to validate successfully again. Unfortunately, I do not remember the exact file path anymore.

So, based on my experience, you may want to try the following:

  1. Restart the ArcGIS Spatiotemporal Big Data Store service, or reboot the machine.
  2. Check whether any security/certificate files were regenerated or changed during setup.
  3. If you have a backup from before the issue occurred, compare or restore the related certificate/security files.

The 401 Unauthorized response from the internal OpenSearch/Elasticsearch endpoint looks like it may be related to the internal authentication or security configuration used by the spatiotemporal data store.

Hope this helps as a reference.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I've just tried rebooting the machine but the error persists.

Unfortunately, we don't have a backup of the security/certificate files for the spatiotemporal data store.
