I am trying to register folders on our development ArcServer instance. I weas wondering if I needed to register each folder or are the folders inherited. For example, if I have a folder called data and inside that folder are 10 different folders with different data stored in them, I am assuming I would only register the data folder and not all the individual folders residing within.

Thanks in advance

When you register a directory, all subdirectories under the folder you specify are also registered with the server.

Registering your data directories does not grant the ArcGIS Server account permissions to access your data. You'll need to give the ArcGIS Server account at least read permissions to any folder or database that you register.
