I am using ArcCatalog to connect to published services by local data partners. I have successfully established connections for many services.
One on particular is stumping me.
I am able to see the REST services in a browser (IE and Chrome). However, if I try to connect via ArcCatalog using: http://gisweb2.durhamnc.gov/arcgis/services I get an error message.
I can launch the services through the REST point in JavaSript, ArcGIS Online… but not in ArcMap. For example by clicking on ArcGIS JavaScript or ArcGIS.com Map:
http://gisweb2.durhamnc.gov/arcgis/rest/services/DurhamMaps/BikeMap_NAD83/MapServer
Any ideas?
Depending on what version of ArcGIS you are using, try this instead
that is, add add "rest" between the argis and services.
Yes I tried that. The error message says no resource can be found at that address. I am using ArcGIS 10.1
I should have mentioned I was using 10.3.
I no longer have a 10.1, but in 10.0 I used http://gisweb2.durhamnc.gov/arcgis/services
http://gisweb2.durhamnc.gov/arcgis/services
and it worked. Maybe a limitation in your network?
Thanks Rebecca,
It is helpful to know that you are able to connect.
