Layers disappear from a published service

Hello,

We experienced a strange behavior of ArcGIS Server working with AWS RDS DB: we have published a service with 5 layers and occasionally found that when we engage the service there's only one layer available. Restart solved the problem.

Did someone experienced something similar?

Can temporary disconnection from RDS cause the problem?

Yes sir, I know what you are going through.   Lets see, are you getting errors that the layers are failing to load in the browser? I assume these layers are all ArcGIS Server Services that you host. 

When we were setup with an RDS we would run into this issue occasionally. It was mostly with our hosted feature services but sometimes with our ArcGIS Server services as well. 

Have you applied all of your ESRI patches? They have released some good ones to fix a lot of these issues.  We had a trick to fix our connection issues where we would cycle the security protocols on our ArcGIS Server through the Admin endpoint, that would kick off a service reboot and everything would magically start working again.   

We would get these connection issues after our GIS hosts would reboot to finish up their Windows updates.
