Hello,
Tableau has a nice feature where a visuals data can be filtered based on who is viewing it. In other words, if some data is off limits to certain user groups that can be accommodated with the same visual design (dry: don't repeat yourself, no need to create duplicate visuals for more than one group). Is there a similar feature with Enterprise items (maps/apps)? I understand 'Views' might have some potential here but from what I understand I see two issues: 1) Views only work with hosted feature layers and not Enterprise Feature Classes, and 2) Views live at feature layer level and so any vertical would need to be duplicated per group, such as maps and apps (i.e. One app would not accommodate many groups like tableau).
Please correct any of my misunderstandings and chime in with your workflow to address filtering data by group.
Thank you,
Tyler
Looking into this functionality a bit in Tableau Docs and learning it's called row-level security (RLS). This allows user filtering. So a more refined question is, Does ArcGIS Enterprise support row-level security (RLS) particularly with Web Apps?
This would allow one app to serve all user groups, vice one app per group, for efficiency, QA/QC, and consistency.
Thank you,
Tyler
