Hi everyone,
I’m currently evaluating the best architecture for deploying an ArcGIS Utility Network in an enterprise environment and I’d like to get insights from others who have gone through this process.
Specifically, I’d like to understand:
What are the best practices for installing and configuring PostgreSQL as the enterprise geodatabase for Utility Network? Is it advisable to use it instead of Oracle to achieve better performance and lower costs?
Is Linux or Windows recommended as the host OS for PostgreSQL? Which one has the best performance?
What are the recommended approaches for High Availability (HA) or clustering when using PostgreSQL with ArcGIS Enterprise and Utility Network ?
Are there any real-world implementations (especially in Europe or Italy) that use PostgreSQL for Utility Network which you could reference or share lessons learned from?
I’ve already read Esri’s Network Information Management System – Electric Utility (PostgreSQL) test study, but I’m interested in hearing from users or partners who have production experience with this setup.
Thanks in advance for any guidance, documentation, or examples you can share!
Astrid
