Clicking on ArcGIS Server in ArcCatalog yields following error:

Proxy server got bad address from remote server (verify the server is running).

Any clues?

there is an older knowledge base article...bottom line, if you are trying to use an administration connection, make sure your Catalog is the same ( or higher) version 40799 - Proxy server got bad address from remote server (verify the server is running)

Here is a more up to date article which also looks promising Why am I getting the error "We were unable to connect to: http:///gis/sevices. Error: Proxy server g...

You didn't mention your version or how you are connecting, so hopefully one if these will cover your situation.

May be incorrect in IP address, Port, or Instance?

Sounds simple, but take a look at your IE LAN Settings - make sure the box for "Use a proxy server for your LAN...." is unchecked. This has resolved issues when Port 6080 in/outbound rules, Web Adaptor, IIS and other troubleshooting efforts have failed.

You need to Create a New Role in FireWall on Server Machine. Add both Inbound Rule and OutBound Rule. add port 6080

Did that, but didn't resolve the issue - LAN settings ultimately worked for me....
