Are there any tools available to perform simulationed load tests against an instance of ArcGIS Server?

For example, I would like to register a bunch of map and image services.  Then, run a tool which would allow me to simulate different amounts of users performing actions on the services to see how the server responds.

All suggestions would be very much appreciated!  Thanks!

Hi Jerry,
Some of the more common performance testing tools utilized with ArcGIS Server include LoadRunner, Silk Performer, Visual Studio Test Team Edition, and JMeter.  Additional information about performance testing may be found in our Dev Summit presentation from earlier this year at: http://proceedings.esri.com/library/userconf/devsummit10/papers/tech/2010_arcgis_server_performance_...

You might also try PushToTest TestMaker (open source). It's not specifically aimed at GIS apps, but it IS specifically aimed at load test simulation, and is pretty good at simulating user scenarios, across multiple test nodes.

Brett,

We've been trying to use Jmeter with some of our internal services and have had trouble.  We think we're handling the https portion correctly but still get errors.  I can post back with the specifics if someone would find that useful but perhaps there is another example out there for secured services?  I too really like tereshenkov's blog.

Has anyone used System Test to test service loading?

MXD PerfStat is what ESRI Professional Services would use.

The tool to do that would be System Test for the Web.

This is an Esri PS tool.
