hi folks, I am confused about the difference between the ArcGIS Enterprise Advanced/Standard and ArcGIS GIS Server Advanced/Standard.

At ArcGIS 9.2 we received the first release of ArcGIS Server.  It took our data and turned it into web services.  We had to develop applications, other than the availability of a few builder kits.

At 10.2.x we got a Portal which allowed to us to discover and configure resources.  At 10.3 we got the ArcGIS data store which gave us hosted services and when you put all of those components together you get ArcGIS Enterprise.

you can still use ArcGIS server by itself, but you can also use it as a component within ArcGIS Enterprise.

Hi @DasheEbra, ArcGIS Server is a component of ArcGIS Enterprise, like Scott indicated you can also get it as a standalone version.
you should have a look at these sites to get a handle on the different server roles.

Installation and deployment | Documentation for ArcGIS Enterprise

ArcGIS Enterprise Functionality Matrix | Updates for v.11.2 (esri.com)

Hope it helps

ArcGIS Server is essentially ArcGIS Enterprise without ArcGIS Portal.  ArcGIS Portal is all of the tools to create and manage the content (web maps, web scenes, map viewers, etc) that uses and displays the web services you publish with ArcGIS Enterprise.
