Hi

In our company we got some new user types after 1st July (Creator, Professional and Professional Plus). We bought those licenses to be administered through Portal. We know that the new user types only will be available in ArcGIS Enterprise 11.4 (We are in 11.2, and planning to align with the long term release soon: 11.3, 11.5, etc). However, existing Creators licenses we had, previous the new user types came into effect, they got assigned an ArcGIS PRO Basic license trough my Esri that we could apply to Portal (getting the license file from My Esri an updating the licenses in Portal). We also got the licenses for ArcGIS PRO Standard and ArcGIS PRO Advanced with the Professional and Professional Plus acquired User Types through My Esri and we applied them to Portal. The issue comes with the ArcGIS PRO Extensions that Professional Plus is entitled to. We don't have ArcGIS PRO Extension licenses to apply in My Esri, and now we are told that those Extensions will only be available with ArcGIS Enterprise 11.4 when the new user types will be released in ArcGIS Enterprise. My questions is why we cannot get the Extension Licenses through my Esri in the same way we got the ArcGIS PRO Basic licenses for Creators we already had?. We bought Professional Plus new user types in ArcGIS Enterprise (and we bought them because of the Extensions), but we cannot apply them, and the version to apply them is not even in the market???. This shouldn't be happening, if the Extensions are not available through any interim mechanism, I guess Esri shouldn't be selling Professional Plus for ArcGIS Enterprise.

Hi, Whilst I can't help, this is the exact issue we are facing with our current Enterprise 11.3 and newly purchased Professional Plus Licenses, our previous ArcGIS Pro Standard are expired with no way to configure Professional Plus licenses with Enterprise as they only show up in the ArcGIS Online tab in My Esri.

In My Esri, the line item is called "ArcGIS Online Professional Plus (formerly Advanced) User Type AnnualSubscription" in our license summary tab.

When looking at pricing options on ArcGIS Website, it seems there is Professional Plus for both Online and Enterprise environments, perhaps it's an issue of purchasing the wrong one? (we were recommended setting up and ArcGIS Online account to activate these licenses, which to your discovery as well, is only possible on 11.4 deployments anyway.

According to this:
https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/configure-arcgis-pro-licenses.htm
if we are running 11.3 or earlier we are required to use the portal license server, though it is not clear how to get the Professional Plus licenses into My Esri for Enterprise Deployment.

If I find out more information next week I'll let you know.

Update:

After speaking with Esri, yes you are correct that the New Professional /Plus licenses and extensions don't exist within the ArcGIS Enterprise licensing options, I believe that if Esri port the licenses over from Online to Enterprise they would be displayed as "ArcGIS Pro Advanced" Licenses and you won't have access to the extensions this way.

We have a fix for this - if you can call it a fix?

Has Esri recommended to set up an ArcGIS Online account for your business? because this is required for you to access these licenses. Esri sends an activation email with a link to set up your Online account, follow this documentation to set up your Online account: Activate subscription—ArcGIS Online Help | Documentation

here you specify a domain (for example mycompany.arcgis.com ). It should be linked with your My Esri Organization through this step.

Once you set up your ArcGIS Online,

login to your ArcGIS Online > go to Organization > Members > User types and you should see X amount of User types available under Professional / Plus, or whichever User types you have.

Add any members in your organization that require these licenses, they will need to set up a new built-in account and you can assign the licenses once these members are created.
These members will also be listed in My Esri > Users > Manage Users tab

In ArcGIS Pro > Settings > Licensing > [Configure your licensing options]

Seems self-explanatory at this point but each user will then connect to their ArcGIS Online account this way to access the license and extensions that have been assigned to their Built-In ArcGIS Online account.

In ArcGIS Pro > Settings > Portals ensure that the key/license icon is displayed next to your ArcGIS Online Portal, and ensure that you switch your active portal to your Enterprise Portal.

I haven't fully explored the implications or limitations of this set up, we currently have the "Aviation Tools" Extension assigned to our Enterprise which means we can't access it whilst ArcGIS Pro is configured to take the Online licenses. Any ArcGIS Pro user that needs this extension will need to toggle between the Enterprise and Online license Servers. Otherwise we can have Esri move this extension over to Online.

As far as I have tested, this still allows for ArcGIS API for python scripts executed in ArcGIS Pro which log you into your Enterprise portal to publish data and at the same time utilize the ArcGIS Online License to run geoprocessing tools in the one workflow.

Hope this helps.
