When trying to access ArcGIS Pro this error message comes up: An unknown error has occurred. Contact your administrator to check that the license manager is running with valid licenses.

We tried multiple solutions

https://support.esri.com/en-us/knowledge-base/error-an-unknown-error-has-occurred-contact-your-admin...

https://support.esri.com/en-us/knowledge-base/how-to-access-arcgis-pro-publicly-using-pro-with-porta...

But nothing worked for it only shown with 11.5 we had a previous system 11.4 running before switching to 11.5 and it was working fine,

Any suggestions or solutions would be much appreciated.

In portal admin - can you check System > Web adaptors?

This web adaptor URL needs to match your organisation URL for the licenses to be successfully checked out, assuming this is a friendly DNS alias. This is a very easy part of the config the skip/forget as the default Web adaptor config page launches on Localhost:

https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/web-adaptor/11.4/install/iis/configure-arcgis-web-adaptor-portal.ht...

Update:

I can confirm we found the solution it is as follows,

When creating the license for portal make sure when requested to enter FQDN in the creation form for portal license to enter the domain name that leads to the portal in my case to access the portal domain name example (server.domain.com/portal) which leads the portal directly, we didn't add /portal to the requested domain in portal license creation form,

That was the reason the users cant access ArcGIS Pro with named user license.

I hope this will help other facing the same problem.

Hi

We are hoping to upgrade from 11.3 to 11.5 shortly and I was wondering if any additional ports (other than 443) are required? I don't see it mentioned after 11.4, but just wanted to check what your experience has been after upgrading.

Thank you for your time

Hello sorry for the late response,

In my case it was only a one machine and no ports were opened to access Enterprise services.

I would advice to check the requirements of Enterprise 11.5 deployment

https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/system-requirements/latest/windows/arcgis-enterprise-overall-system...

and everything works great on 11.5 the most important feature that supported the decision of upgrading that it is an LTS version (long-term support) which i think ends in 2030

you can see all new add features here: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-enterprise/announcements/whats-new-in-arcgis-enterp...

I hope my response helps in any way.

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it. I have since upgraded and we didn't have to open any ports and licensing now works just by using port 443 which for us has simplified things a bit with both DEV and PROD environments. We run 5 servers (web, portal, server and 2x Data stores) in each environment in the AWS cloud.
