Hello,

I'm in the middle of installing ArcGIS Data Store 10.9.1.

I've come to the part of the wizard for supplying the "Specific Content Directory".

The default is C:\arcgisdatastore.

We have approximately 500GB of space on C:\ and about 1.29TB on another local disk drive.

Should I stay with the default or path it to a local disk drive with more space?  Are there any considerations to take into account regarding this decision?

Thank you very much for your time.

Jeff

With DataStore you have to consider how much hosted content with be created within Enterprise. If there is potential for a larger number of layers (i.e. 300+), I would go to the larger drive now to avoid having to move it later. If this Enterprise system won't be as reliant on hosted layers, then it's really up to you. For my installs (for testing or for customers), I usually recommend a secondary drive to avoid switching drives later, as well as avoiding any conflicts with the operating system. Other than drive space, where you specify the content folder doesn't matter to the software, it will perform as intended either way.

I would specify a folder on the other local drive (changing the drive letter is okay), unless you have a reason to keep it on the OS drive. ArcGIS DataStore's content folder can be moved after the setup / configuration, but it's not as easy compared with the same action for ArcGIS Server and Portal for ArcGIS.

Reese,

Thank you for responding to my post.

Any particular reason you favor redirecting it to my other drive instead of C:\?

Thank you, Reese!  I was thinking along those lines, but I just needed to hear another voice in the crowd to reaffirm my beliefs.

I've already redirected outputs to the other drive during the install of ArcGIS Server for that same reason.  Data Store had me a somewhat stumped.

Thanks again!
