??add machine? fails,

I wanted to ??add machine? to a particular cluster but I got the message below:

Failed to register the server machine 'jamal-sony1'. JSONObject["dataItems"] not found.

The ??jamal-sony1? machine is physically connected to the first machine (jamal-sony) as shown in the ??ping? below:

,

What might be the issue here? What requirements are a must in the machine that is intended to be added?

Thank you

Best

Jamal

Jamal,

The

JSONObject ["dataItems"] not found

error seems more indicative of a corrruption or improper/complete configuration or installation, than a connection issue.

JSON is text file format used to store key/value pairs, where the "key" serves to extract an associated value from the text file. It can be used to store configuration information (or anything else). In your case, the key "dataItems" is not found in a JSON text file.

A potential configuration issue is also indicated by this post in this thread about the same error:

Failed to register Server machine JSONobject not found - Dataitems

see the remark about the rebuild of the config-store in the last post of the thread.

Many thanks Marco for the help,

Where the JSON file is stored? I searched in in the folder C:\arcgisserver but it appears not to be there?

And in case I find it, what should I do?

At the moment,

1. the ArcGIS server installed in the first machine (Jamal-sony) and on the second machine (jamal-sony1) are working.
2. These two machines are physically connected

You probably shouldn't be messing with auto-populated configuration files, even if they are in text format.

A potential solution is listed in that other thread and post I pointed out:

"Rebuild the config(uration)-store directory" as Quinn Korbulic reported as a solution to his problems.

Sorry Marco but I couldn??t find anything helpful in the post of Quinn Korbulic.

Then what is the benefit of using the ??Configure ArcGIS Server Account? to re-configure the directories? How this would help solving the issue of ??add machine??

Where should I implement the configuration: in ??jamal-sony? or on ??jamal-sony1??
