11.5 Distributed Collaboration Workspace Creation Not Working

Hello,

For the first time since 11.1 maybe, I am trying to create a new workspace for our distributed collaboration between our AGOL and Portal environments (we have 9 existing workspaces that we regularly add content to).  As I recall, when you create a new workspace in AGOL, after a few minutes it should appear in Portal and you need to click "Join".  However, this is not happening.  No new workspace appears.  Any ideas?  Can someone with 11.5 try to create a new workspace and confirm functionality?

Thanks!

Hi @valenj88,

I can confirm that creation of new workspaces between AGOL and ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 still works. It takes about 10 minutes for the new workspace to appear in Enterprise.

That said, I believe I encountered your exact issue before with some test workspaces we created in AGOL not showing up in Enterprise. We left them as-is, and after about two months, we noticed they appeared in ArcGIS Enterprise. Unfortunately, we’re not sure what triggered the fix

Appreciate you taking the time.  Maybe I'll give portal service a restart or something.  Thanks Tim!

Hi @valenj88,

Came across a test environment that was experiencing this issue. We followed the general workflow outlined in this Esri Community thread: Solved: Collaboration Workspace is not Working - Esri Community

We unjoined a collaboration group from an unused workspace, then rejoined it. It seems when a Guest Portal joins a group to a workspace, it initiates a real-time sync with the Host Collaboration. Note that I'm referring to sync at the Collaboration level (e.g. adding/deleting workspaces, send/receive access modes, etc), and not item sync that occurs at the workspace level.

You can view detailed logs for your collaboration workspaces by following this documentation in the sharing directory:

https://developers.arcgis.com/rest/users-groups-and-items/collaboration/

e.g. https://organization.example.com/<context>/sharing/rest/portals/self/collaborations

You're looking for "Sync Status" under your collaboration and workspace ID

this requires the portal sharing directory to be enabled to view as HTML....be sure to disable this once you've investigated the logs to follow best practice.

Once you've accepted the collaboration invite from ArcGIS Online on your enterprise, you should start seeing logs here
