Unable to update hosted feature layer view definition

I am trying to view (and potentially change) the settings for a hosted feature layer view. I've tried following the process outlined here:

I expect that I would see the option under the settings tab as I've seen in other hosted feature layer views like this:

However, in this particular View, in that same location, what I see is this:

It then lists the name of the hosted feature layer from which this View was produced. So I go to that hosted feature layer but can't find a way to change the settings of the View within the details page of the HFL.

I don't know if there's something about the way this View was set up that prevents this workflow from functioning as one might expect according to the documentation.

You know, I don't think I did. I certainly don't remember what the solution was if I did find one. I'm trying to solve the same problem again with a different hosted feature layer view.
