Shadow behind polygon

Does anyone know how to produce a shadow behind a polygon like the attached example?[ATTACH=CONFIG]31940[/ATTACH]

When I tried this method, I got an error message saying, "The workspace for this feature class doesn't support representations." I'm not sure what I am supposed to do to address this problem.

Make sure you have ArcGIS for Desktop Standard or ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced license. Also the input must be a Geodatabase Feature Class.
