'No Color' value in streched classification in raster not transparent

I have a raster heat map, that uses a stretched classification.  I would like this to start from fully transparent for low levels up to a color for high levels.

The problem is, when I set the low level to 'NoColor' in the Symbology properties, the displayed value isn't really no color, but grey.

When I apply No Color value to a point symbol, the point is actually transparent.  This is what I would like to have.  Now instead, I have grey covering my map.

Is there some workaround for this?

see sample attachment below.  the grey is 'NoColor' in the stretched raster (covering the map below).  The points are also 'NoColor' and are fully transparent.
