Our Environment on AWS: Multiple-machine deployment with third party reverse proxy server and load balancer.

Q: Where to position the ArcGIS Pro, so that ArcGIS Pro can publish services that reference registered data (Enterprise Geodatabase)?

Scenario-1:

  • If ArcGIS Pro positioned with in the data center along with Portal and ArcGIS Servers, it can reach Geodatabase however it cannot reach the WebContextURL of Portal to connect Portal from ArcGIS Pro for publishing.

Scenario-2:

  • If ArcGIS Pro positioned outside data center, it can reach WebContextURL of Portal however it cannot reach Geodatabase (located inside data center) from ArcGIS Pro for publishing.

Your help is sincerely appreciated.

In most scenarioes I would say that this is a hack and not to use it.  But given it's one machine, you can enter the value of the webcontext URL and the IP address of your web adapter (or alternative) into the hosts file on the local machine where Pro is installed.  If that doesn't work immediately then you need to do some work with firewall rules.

Make sure you document this as part of an as built in case you ever need a second 'desktop' machine.
