We have a large enterprise system with portal, federated servers, notebooks, hosting server, and data store. Our data footprint continues to grow. We have noticed that the enterprise does not always clean up data.

  • Data Store, Hosted and federated services and layers that no longer exist in portal, but still exist in servers.
  • Portal items that exist on portal but no longer exist on servers and data store.
  • Data Store with orphaned items that exist in data store, but nowhere else in enterprise.
  • Portal items that no longer exist that become orphaned in the file system or DB.

See post here .... Orphaned data and services clean up - Esri Community

It would really be helpful to have a mechanism to check portal for mismatched items within itself and throughout the enterprise and provide a mechanism for cleaning up these items.

My organization would welcome any tools or enhancements to facilitate Enterprise clean-up. To build on your comment @RachaelHarbes, a tool that defines the links / lineage between Portal/Server/Data Store items would be helpful when deciding what items can be deleted during the cleanup process.

It would also be very helpful to see the links between apps (Experience Builder, Dashboard, Field Maps, etc) and the feature layers, tables, web maps, and other items consumed by those apps. My organization can't be the only one with a content cleanup issue.

Thank you for posting this excellent and practical idea.
