Is there a plan for ArcGIS Earth API like there was for ArcGIS Explorer?  Is there a timeframe for us to expect this being released?

Hi Troy,

Thanks for your interests in ArcGIS Earth. Yes, ArcGIS Earth is planning to release a API called Automation API in this coming 1.6 release. The Automation API is a limited interface designed for app-to-app communication. With the API, you can build .NET extensions to call URL on your local machine to access and communicate with Earth. We will also be able to add more methods to the Automation API in the future releases.

However, we do not have a sophisticated API yet. But this is also on our planlist. Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Mandy

Are we going to be able to add new layers as a result of that communication API?

Hi Adam,

V1.6 will be released later this month. We'll have updates in the coming week.
