I did a small test on a set of images close to Oslo/Norway.
- Image CRS: WGS84/EGM96
- Project CRS: ETRS1989 UTM Zone 32N/NN2000
When setting up the "Coordinate System Transformation" user is presented with a list of (not less than) 50+ possible transformation paths(!). The list includes
- "abandoned" CRS's like CRS's based on NGO1948, European1950 etc
- non-Norwegian CRS's like Swedish, Finnish and Estonian
- and of course comboes of the above (for example abandoned Swedish RT90)
As EPSG database will continue to grow, an idea could be to implement a filter for possible CRS's hence transformation paths? Like a spatial filter and possibly a "historical" filter?
