ArcGIS 10.1, SP1, Build 3143

ArcGIS Server 10.1

I installed ArcGIS on several new computers in a training lab for our county, I also installed all the SP's, patches and SQL Native Client files.  This is the same installation as my desktop.  When I log in to this computer with my existing username and password, go to ArcCatalog and try to set up a connection to SDE, I get the following error.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Chad

If that indeed worked...can you share a screenshot of the Connection properties of your Desktop (which was working fine previously)

I don't know why, but I still believe that the issue had something to do with the default database assigned within SQL Server.

Also I guess, you should\may receive the same error if you click on the dropdown to select databases even with these copied connection files.

But for the Database Authentication users, the default databases are set.

I know and that is the part which confused me as well. Do you still receive the error on the copied connections, if you click on the dropdown for selecting databases?

nope, I can select any one of the 13 other connections in our SDE

oh, thats cool then. Not sure why it wasn't working earlier.

In case you would like to dig deeper...feel free to contact ESRI Tech-Suppport and make them have a look.

Sorry for disappearing from the discussion for a bit, i was driving home.

Chad, try using the ArcToolbox tool to create a connection and see if that works.

Jacob,

The toolbox tool worked.  That is weird, do you have any explanation why?

Yeah, it was just a hunch.

I'd run a repair on the install of ArcGIS and see if that does the trick.
