Al Plant,
There are usually two reasons for this to happen.
1. Not enough hard-drive space or RAM to complete the installation.
2. The system does not meet the System Requirements.
Also note that the System requirements are not the same for Server and Desktop. Please check with Esri Technical Support for further assistance.
