Template Issue and Arcmap crash

I have recently switched to ArcGIS 10.6 and i can not open my former projects from the 10.5 version. i have tried changing the normal.mxt yet it doesn't help.

I also have a very urgent issue to solve.

whenever i try to open the Arctoolbox window,Arcmap crashes, as well as when i try to open the search window.

You installation is defective.  Go to Windows Control Panel, Add/ Remove programs and select the Repair option

thanks Dan. but i have tried that method I also tried to uninstall and re-install;yet the problem ain't solved!!

Did you have any 3rd party extensions, tools etc installed?  The upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6 didn't require an uninstall, so there may be an issue if you did that

I am also using ArcGIS pro 2.1, I wonder if they use different extensions?!

No, I am questioning how you got 10.6.  Did you just upgrade but kept 10.5 during the process or did you uninstall 10.5, then install 10.6.

In any event.  Do new projects work?

I would file a report with tech support since narrowing down what happened is hardly possible if you did a complete removal of anything Arc* and reinstalled

I uninstalled 10.5 and installed 10.6, at the beginning everything worked erfectly then after two weeks it started crashing. Yes, new projects work but i cant use my toolbox.

and yes i did file the report.
