Republishing Data Source Error

Just upgraded to 11.5 Enterprise and republished features into the portal and I am now getting a data source error on my dashboards. Do I have to reconfigure the connection to the new feature layer and reconfigure the widgets/indicators or is there any easy way out of this?

Thank you

Hey @Joshua_Moreno

When you say republished features into the portal, is this from Pro? If so, they may have gotten disconnected or inherited a new ID, I would attempt to reconfigure the connection with the republished features to verify that it is able to reconnect, hopefully the widgets be waterfalled from the reconfiguration and it will settle in correctly!

We did republish from Pro. How would I go about doing this? For the web map that is connected in the dashboard, would I remove the "broken" layer and add the republished one?

The layer was overwritten in ArcGIS pro, new to Enterprise so still figuring stuff out, thank you!

Did you overwrite it maintaining the layer IDs? If they weren't the same then it probably did break.

I overwrite layers constantly after a schema change and I've never had to reconfigure my applications.

I believe this is the issue. We had our contractor republish/overwrite all our layers over the weekend but I myself was not aware of this as I'm pretty new to the whole best standards of enterprise/portal. When it is broken, is there a way to fix this issue in AGO Assistant perhaps? We have a few layers (web feature layers) that are not drawing on a web map but I can access the map image layer just fine. I assume this is the same result, mismatch layer id's when overwriting?

Laura:

Is overwriting hosted feature layers in Portal supposed to change the layer IDs?  I thought that process was supposed to maintain layer IDs.

I believe it is supposed to maintain the layer ID's if the Pro Project layer has the same layer ID in it's properties. I was completely unaware of this as you don't get an issue for it when you analyze prior to overwriting but have to click the compare button to ensure the ID's match when overwriting. Ended up being the issue for the layers not drawing as well and had to update the Layer ID in the feature service JSON for it to work properly.

If updating your map doesn't work and  you have new ID's you can update all the item ids in the JSON files of the dashboards through online assistant.  It can be a pain but faster than recreating the dashboards...
