"blank" values appearing in Serial Charts

I have a dashboard displaying a breakdown of our field workers' Survey123 survey reports. Some of the serial charts include 'blank' values, which appear to be separate from null values and cannot be filtered out. I can get rid of the blank values by going in and cleaning the data but I wanted to know if there is a way of preventing this in the first place.
The survey creating the entries uses a lot of 'relevant' constraints in its questions, which I feel could be causing unanswered questions to be listed as blank.
