Dashboard dynamic indicator with category selector

I'm trying to have my category selector change out my indicators for different category data. For example, one indicator shows percent complete of items for the underground category of water main. But there are other categories, and I don't want to fill the dashboard with indicators for each one.

So instead, I would rather have one indicator and have a category selector and when different categories are selected it just uses the same indicator and swaps out the data in that single indicator with new text.

I think you just need to set the actions of your category selector to filter the indicator - for instance, here's an indicator that is being filtered by an incident type category selector I have set up in a dashboard - when no category is selected the number of incidents reads 115K.  The second screenshot shows where you set that up in the configuration panel for your category selector.

thank you @clt_cabq . How can I apply category filter to an indicator which also has a calculate value from reference data?

I'd have to look at the specific setup, and don't currently have a dataset I can mimic that with easily. I think it would work the same though, the value showing in the indicator would calculate values based on the filter applied by the category selector. Give it a try and see if you get results that make sense to you.

@clt_cabq Double checked and this one indicator still doesn't change on based on the category selector.

Below is a screenshot of this one indicator in the settings of the category selector:
