We have a dashboard showing the status of roads within various districts of our Province. Each District is responsible for the roads that are primarily in their District, but often the roads often cross into neighbouring Districts due to changes over the years to the boundaries.
The Districts want to know what the breakdown of the status of the roads in their District, but since the spatial filtering in the selector only does intersect, there are a number of times when this results in them getting an inaccurate breakdown of the state of roads in their District.
We've worked around this by adding a field to indicate what District a road would be considered to fall in, but it requires work by staff to keep it up-to-date and sometimes errors creep in. Also, in the event that these boundaries change (which does happen), we would need to revisit all these values and reassign them.
With all that, what we would like is the option to choose the spatial filter method, such as Centroid Within, Completely Within, etc. It doesn't have to be something that is presented to the user, just a setting in the background of the dashboard.
