Recent updates to dashboards in AGOL and In Enterprise 11.5 have seriously impacted the performance of any dashboard displaying many features in a serial chart. The changes are detailed in this blog post Charts in Dashboards: What’s coming for AGOL last year and as can be seen in the comments below that quite a few people have been negatively impacted. We have built highly customised dashboards for users to view timeseries data for things such as water quality monitoring. Prior to the 11.5 upgrade, these all performed well, but since then they have been terrible. Even when the data has been thinned out to <1000 features, what used to load instantly now takes users 20 seconds+ to view. As spatial professionals, we have to build trust with our users, stuff like this erodes all that. In the blog post about these changes for AGOL, Esri recognised that this would cause slowdowns for feature heavy serial charts - but argued the changes would overall be better. That's all well and good if the change was well documented and clearly communicated to users well in advance - alas this has not occurred (the new 10k feature limit is nowhere to be seen in documentation), and we are left scrambling to try and salvage these important dashboards for increasingly frustrated users.
