Some of our Rangers are getting an untrusted host error message (see attached). And if you select trust it just throws up the error message again. You can flick the app out and on most occasions it opens again and works fine.
Running Android 10 with latest updates on a Samsung S20+ and latest Collector for ArcGIS 20.2.1 Build 2956.
Any ideas what is going on?
Do you use bluetooth device with Samsung S20+? Connection state change can potentially trigger this. One thing we are aware of is bluetooth keyboard.

The problem is occurring in the field on the mobile device away from any other bluetooth devices.

I am getting the same message with a Samsung Tablet Active2. Just started happening today after weeks with no issues. I re-installed Collector and it seems to have gone away.
I am getting this error repeatedly when in low reception areas and it is making Collector unusable. Can I solution be provided urgently? Note this appears to be an issue of the new Collector version and not the user.
Three ways to deal with.
1) Ignore it by flicking out app and reopen app
2) If 1) does not work uninstall and reinstall app.
3) If still an issue set up off line maps and use off line
Just tested two devices and could not get the error, but I do understand it is one of those intermittent issues.
This is happening with offline mode as well.
When using a map in Collector version 20.2 on an Android tablet (Samsung Tab S2) I intermittently get the following error.
Untrusted Hosthttps://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Topo_Map/MapServerThis server could not prove itself; its security certificate is not trusted by your OS. Would you like to continue anyway?
To close the error I have to tell it to trust it about 20 times. Then a few minutes later the error will pop up again. I also got this error on my Motorola phone on Android 10. Some of my students also get the error with this map.
Tyler, you mentioned it happened at offline mode too. Is the basemap link at untrusted hosted message the same as basemap used at offline map?

Some of our field staff are also experiencing this 'untrusted host error' when using the latest version of collector on Android devices.
The error message is specifically "Untrusted Host https://services2.arcgis.com/......... This server could not prove itself; its security certificate is not trusted by your OS. Would you like to continue anyway?
The current work around is to have users log out of Collector and log back in.
I've just suggested that field staff uninstall / reinstall collector as per some of the suggestions above to see if this resolves the issue
ESRI is there an official solution for this problem yet?

Yes issue has remerged for some of our Android phone users. ArcGIS Collector app 20.2.1 on Android 10.
I have asked ACT Government GIS staff to lodge it with esri as an urgent job. Good idea if you lodge a complaint too via esri's helpline.
We are experiencing the same issue for a few users - same advice - log out and back in and if all else fails uninstall and reinstall the app - it is by no means ideal as coverage can be poor in some of our areas.

Problem only occurs on Android devices (not iOS).We suspected our MDM solution to be the root cause, but we can see that it also occurs on Android devices without MDM.We have +60 users that are facing this problem and its a showstopper for them. @Esri Please pay attention to this..

Yes - we are getting the same problem occasionally as well on Android only. Our GIS officer tried raising it with @Esri help desk as a bug but was told it was a problem with the Android system, which is not a helpful answer. It is clearly a bug with ArcGIS Collector app on Android. Happens on the latest phones and latest Android system as well. I have made a @Esri premium support request and had it ongoing for months. @Esri have not yet recognised the issue as a bug. @Esri support is not able to reproduce the issue and refere me and the customer to this thread. The fieldworker who have the issue, a customer to Metria and Esri is now very tired of all question and actions.I understand that the issue is hard to reproduce but if some Estri staff have the issue a bug request should be made urgent!
The same bug used to occur on the Apple version of the new Collector app, when it was first released. An update fixed it so someone in Esri knows how to fix this bug.
Maybe a solution is that ESRI staff start using Collector app in the field on daily basis, on-line and off-line. In this way there is more likelihood that they will see these intermittent bugs.
Like many of you, I too have many field crews using Android devices getting this error related to the World Topo basemap. I get asked nearly every day when a fix is coming. I don't think my crews realize this is not a problem I can fix, it's on ESRI to resolve.
After reading this has been ongoing since September, I will also submit a help ticket.
A related issue when the untrusted error happens: some staff also get logged out of ArcGIS Collector app. This is what happened when the same untrusted host bug was an issue on Apple devices - fixed ages ago by ESRI. Maybe mention that too because the developers must know about the issue by now - you would hope...

Fyi, I just got the error message in Field Maps in Android 10, on a Samsung Galaxy S5 in an online map. Untrusted Host ....World_Topo_Map/MapServer . It happened after setting the tablet down for several minutes and then picking it up again. I had the same issue in Collector on a different Android tablet. I will contact esri Support.

Hello, I am getting this error in Field Maps on a Samsung Active Pro with Android version 10.
I ran into this same problem in the new Collector App on Android after redirecting the URL for the rest interface to our new ArcGIS server machine with ArcGIS Server 10.8.1. The same mapservices are running on that new server (restored a backup of the old site to the new machine).
I have some other problems as well, not being able to upload attachments and not being able to synchronise offline maps (those problems I see on iOS as well).
I saw this workaround (somebody described it before in this thread but I didn't see a link):

but how are we to going to instruct all our field workers to do this? That is going to be a big mess.

Getting similar reports from some of our field crews using Explorer on Android phones (mix of some managed by Intune and some just standard installs).
FWIW I agree that the certificate install technical solution is really not practical for any organisation with more than a handful of users.

Just an update on this - we have been able to reproduce this in house and and have logged an issue to investigate the root cause. We would hope to have a fix for this in Field Maps in a coming release.
@jorisfrenkel The issues you have described I think are unrelated to this thread. This specific instance of an "untrusted host" message is happening in ArcGIS Online. I would suggest reaching out to Support with some details about what you are seeing and they can help troubleshoot further.
@ColinLawrence thanks for your reply. I'm sorry I haven't been clear. I get the untrusted host message in the Collector App, using ArcGIS Online web maps with feature layers based on mapservice from our ArcGIS Server machine.
I logged a support request with our Esri agent.

Our local Esri agent advised me to re-install the Collector App, so I did that. Now I'll just wait and see.
Please fix it in Collector, it's really interfering with our asset collection program.
@ColinLawrence any update on potential fix for Collector users? We have probably ~150 users in India where this is a major issue with poor connectivity.
Those who have not contacted support about this, please do. We need an official way to track how many users this problem is affecting. This will be fixed for Field Maps but I cannot comment on a potential fix for Collector at this time as this involves some additional complexities (they are on a different runtime version for one) and the root cause is still being debugged.
It is really hard to track this down. Just as an example the experience I had this morning on my Android phone. I wanted to log into Field Maps, that I installed recently, with an ordinary ArcGIS Online account. After entering the credentials, the app hung. I removed the app and installed it again. The app hung again. I removed the Field Maps app, the Collector App (I was having other issues with the Collector, so I decided to remove it as well), I restarted my phone, installed FIeld Maps again, and then I could login and the app started normally. While around the same time I logged in with the same account on my iPhone without problems.
To use a good dutch saying, I can't make cheese of it.

We are also getting users reporting this problem with the Explorer App. Any sign of a resolution for Explorer? Details: version is 20.2.2 and build 2747 on Android.
