I recently have discovered an issue with my deployment of Collector for Windows on HP tablets. My maps begin to load all background layers then a message comes on saying that 3 layers (the editable ones) are unavailable. Clicking the View button, displays the Layer Errors "the following layers are not accessible"]." when those layers are clicked, the message below the name says "the requested field was not found"
The maps work well in iOS and Android. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi Dan, thanks for the response. We were originally using versioned data, but found that it wasn't working well. Using the default database on SQL server last week, with all open ports, worked seamlessly. Yesterday, I can only go offline in iOS, and Android. One change that we've noticed was that port 7005 appears to be closed, working on opening that up.
I just confirmed that all windows devices are using Collector 10.4.1.
Thanks for your time,
Chris
At this time, the data is only archived, correct? How many layers are in the dataset that you published to ArcGIS Server? If you click on the error when it shows that the feature service is not available in Collector on the Surface, does it say a message? If so, what is that message?
Yup - the data is archived. My collector map is only using one layer with a related table (relationship uses global IDs).
When I open the "offline map" for editing. I see the basemap, and a prompt saying 1 layer not available. Clicking that tells me which layer that is not accessible (the only one), provides the service URL for it, and has an error code that reads "WebMap_CannotCreateLayer".
Is the relationship set up to be coming from a globalID field in the feature layer to a GUID field in the related table?
Was the service republished after changing the data from versioned to archived?
Hi guys,
Just catching up with this discussion. What I found was that my editable
layer service definition somehow got messed up. It did not manifest itself
with the Android or iOS versions, but totally hosed the Windows version. I
cleared all the related files, and published a fresh one and it solved my
problem. Hope you can solve yours!

Thanks Linda and DMoore-esristaff. Dan - I re-established my relationship classes using a GUID on the related table... still getting the same inaccessible layer. Yeah - I republished after all changes.
Linda - oddly, I don't see a service definition file in my contents on Portal. Is it hidden, or sitting somewhere else? Portal is seemingly very similar to AGOL, but I haven't seen a service definition file in Portal.
What's even more odd - is that everything was working at the end of last week.... and so it goes.
Did you remove the service from your map, save, then add it back again, and
save? Then refresh your Collector?

I’m not sure about portal. I only deal with the AGOL hosted components.

Out of curiosity, does the data display when you open the map to view the map in a connected/online environment.
Collector works as expected on the windows tablet for the most part in a connected environment, however, at times submitting updates fails or the related table is not accessible. Intermittently it goes from working just fine to not working. I'm wondering if at least part of the issue could be the WIFI I'm using, but regardless, this offline issue is more of a priority to me.
I've tried a few times starting from scratch on the Portal end of thing, but maybe I need to start over on ArcServer.
