Hi,

We are not able to get the 7XIRx from socket mobile to connect to the Collector App and input numbers into the field .  The scanner will connect to the ipad and we are able to successfully scan barcodes onto the test app.

In this blog, "http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2014/06/15/do-more-with-collector-using-barcode-scanners/" the model CHS 8Ci was mentioned as the scanner unit.  The company apparently uses the same SDK for both.  Does anyone know about this?

We use Bluetooth HID Mode with Collector app. We don't use their SDK. Make sure the barcode scanner is in HID mode.

Hi

We are very interested in the model CHS 8Ci barcode device and and are wondering if ESRI is supporting this workflow now or any barcode workflows?

Also as questioned in the blog by several users replies will using in HID mode "replace the virtual keyboard" or will a user be able to enter values into the other attribute fields with out disabling the barcode device?

Aaron says:

Does this replace the internal keyboard once paired? Our workflow would require scanning a barcode, then updating maybe 10 attributes. It would be unreasonable to have to pair the scanner for each feature visited in the field, then unpair it to get the keyboard back for the rest of the collection event.

Yes, you are able to enter values by quickly double-press the power button of the CHS to open or close the onscreen keyboard. You can find more info at the manual https://www.socketmobile.com/docs/default-source/multi-language/english/chs-series-8---quick-start-g...

Thanks for the reply. If I’m understanding correctly by “double-pressing” the unit it is turned off or is it just actually exiting the connection to the Collector app while still being BT connected to the device. The reason I ask is if the unit is powered down is the time to power back up and reconnect significant?

We will purchase the unit and use for our POC.

Thankx

Frank

It just exits the connection to be input device for Collector. It is NOT turned off.

One is for scanning bar code with bluetooth. I don't know another one.

I use this bar code scanner, and I use it not for business, so if your situation is similar with me, you can also test it.

Hi, fenden.

I wonder whether there are any differences between the bar code scanner I am testing these days and the one you mentioned above. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Arron
