Hi all,
So I have created feature layers on AGOL using the REST API's of layers from my organizations external facing map server. I wanted to use some of these layers to create a web map that can be used in Collector for ArcGIS. However, no map appears in the collector app even after sharing it with my organization. I checked the settings of both the feature layer (no option to make editable) and the web map (no option to use in collector). I noticed that if I use a hosted feature layer than both of these option settings are available. Is there a reason why REST API feature layers do this?
Also why is the interface with collector on windows/android so bad and apple much better? On another web map I created labels and they would display in collector off of my iOS device but not my windows tablet.
Thanks to all those that respond.
Hi Bal,
What Supported Operations are enabled for your REST Service?
What is the format of the REST Service URL that you are adding? For example:
https://<FullyQualifiedDomainName>/arcgis/rest/services/<layer>/FeatureServer/?
Best,
Claire
Hey Claire,
The link to the Rest API is https://maps.abbotsford.ca/arcgis/rest/services/GeocortexExt/WebMap/MapServer. And for the supported operations how would you check this? I am a practicum student so I am not sure if I have the permissions to do this. We are using ArcMap 10.2.2.
I will check out the new android version of Collector.
Thank You
The service needs to have feature access enabled to be editable and viewed in Collector. The tutorial listed in https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/publish-services/windows/publishing-feature-services.... discuss the multiple ways of publishing a Feature Service.
Also, feel free to check out the Collector for ArcGIS (Aurora on the Android Platform) which is in beta release.
