Pier function for floating walkways?

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to have piers supporting a floating walkway? I know that road networks can have piers within the bridge function (complete streets.cga) which I have been able to create for a freeway scenario (This is because I am using a street network) However, I have been unable to make the same scenario using an imported shapefile (.shp) from AutoCAD. Is there anyway to give floating shapes the ability to generate piers using something like complete streets.cga? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Daniel, the same code used for the piers in the street rule should work on any shape, not just street shapes. The question is how to place the piers on your shapes. Also, the origin of the shape coming from CAD will not effect it other than this - sometimes CAD shapes will look dark on top, and need their normals reversed after import.
